An Accra Circuit Court has convicted Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, the founder of Heaven Way Champion International Ministry located at Weija in Accra.

This followed the court’s finding that the self-styled evangelist was guilty on multiple counts of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence. However, sentencing has been deferred pending the outcome of a pregnancy test to determine whether or not Agradaa is pregnant.

According to court documents, Nana Agradaa used her Today-TV channel and other social media platforms to advertise a money-doubling scheme, urging viewers to give her any amount of money with the promise that she would double it in return.

The documents stated that the six complainants in the case, along with over a thousand others, responded to the call and traveled from various locations to attend an all-night service at the Heaven Way Champion International Ministry in Weija. During the event, attendees gave varying sums of money to Nana Agradaa, as instructed, but she failed to fulfill her promise to double the funds.

“The accused successfully demanded and received large sums of money from members of the public, including the complainants, during the said all-night service,” the charge sheet noted.

Further investigations revealed that Nana Agradaa carried out the charlatanic advertisement and subsequent collection of funds in collaboration with other individuals, according to the prosecution.
