Chelsea produced one of their strongest performances of the Champions League league phase, sweeping aside a struggling 10-man Barcelona 3–0 at Stamford Bridge.
The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Pedro Neto’s driven effort forced an own goal from Jules Kounde. Barcelona’s night worsened just before the interval as Ronald Araújo was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.
Chelsea capitalized on the man advantage after the break. Ten minutes into the second half, Estevão scored a stunning goal from an exceptionally tight angle to double the lead. Liam Delap later sealed the result, timing his run perfectly to beat the offside trap and finishing uncontested for 3–0.
The victory puts Chelsea on 10 points from five matchdays, moving them into fifth place in the league phase standings heading into tomorrow’s fixtures. Barcelona, stuck on 7 points, now face the real possibility of missing out on automatic qualification to the knockout stage.
