Ghanaian DSTV subscribers can look forward to greater entertainment value beginning October 1, 2025, as MultiChoice Africa rolls out a new package structure designed to offer more channels at no extra cost.

Announcing the initiative, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Sam George, stated that customers across various subscription tiers will receive 33% to 50% more value.

“For instance, subscribers on the Padi package, currently paying GHS 59, will be automatically upgraded to the Access bouquet worth GHS 99,” he said. “That’s 35 extra channels and a savings of 40%.”

Crackdown on Illegal Decoder Imports

Alongside the new offering, the Minister also revealed plans to address the issue of illegal cross-border decoder imports, particularly from Nigeria. He noted that decoder piracy has had several negative consequences:

  • Moved jobs away from Ghana

  • Denied customers proper after-sales support

  • Undermined the local creative and broadcast industries

  • Reduced government tax revenue

To curb the practice, a multi-agency task force will be formed, comprising:

  • Ministry of Communication

  • National Communications Authority

  • Cyber Security Authority

  • Ghana Revenue Authority

  • Ghana Police Service

  • MultiChoice Africa

  • MultiChoice Ghana

The coordinated effort is expected to restore fairness to the pay-TV market and help strengthen Ghana’s digital and creative economy.
