Local and international creatives from a variety of fields have been confirmed for this year’s AIC-MOCA festival scheduled for Kigali, Rwanda from 30 June to 3 July.

Now in its second edition, the 4-day festival is organized by Africa in Colors (AIC), a Rwandan-based art initiative represented by Raoul Rugamba, and the Movement of Creatives Africas (MOCA), a French-based initiative formed by Cameroonian arts entrepreneur Alain Bidjeck, to empower and promote African Creative Industries.

This year’s event, which is expected to garner over 5,000 people, will highlight Rwanda’s cultural creativity, encourage international creatives to do business in the country, and position Rwanda as a creative hub.

The AIC-MOCA festival in 2022 will bring together elite arts executives and professionals and stakeholders from a myriad of industries and will feature masterclasses, conferences, tours, cultural exhibitions, and B2B meetings, where festival attendees will be equipped with insight on how to best monetize their work.

Confirmed speakers for the event include musician, Blick Bassy; hip hop artiste Youssoupha; Heva Fund partner and investment manager, Wakiuru Njuguna; the Creative Economy Practice at CC HUB managing partner, Ojoma Ochai; former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi; International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) regional director for Africa, Samuel Sangwa; Roc Nation A&R executive, Jarrel Carter; Culture and Development East Africa executive director, Ayeta Wangusa; All Made/92i Africa’s, Jean-Pierre Seck; and Ivorian music group, Magic System.

“THE IDEA TO BRING THE FESTIVAL TO KIGALI IS CLEAR: WE WANT RWANDAN CREATIVES TO SHOWCASE THEIR BEST TO ATTRACT GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURS TO INVEST IN THE LOCAL INDUSTRY. WE ONLY HOPE TO SEE POSITIVE OUTCOMES FROM IT,” RUGAMBA TOLD THE NEW TIMES.
