For giving an erroneous penalty in the Division One League match between Samartex and Ebusua Dwarfs, a referee has been banned for the remainder of the season.

After reviewing video of the event, the GFA’s Match Review Panel determined that the Samartex attacker flung himself to the ground despite not being touched by the defense.

The Panel determined that the decision by referee Felix Agbodzo to give a penalty was erroneous.

Mr Agbozo maintained that the defender had kicked the attacker’s leg, which is why he gave the penalty despite receiving a video of the event.

As a consequence, the GFA stated that the official will be suspended for the remainder of the season.

The match in question, which took place at Scot Park on Matchday 19, finished in a tie.
