The Deputy Minister for Health, Hon Bernard Okoe Boye has revealed that, government has paid the six thousand (6000)health workers that were vetted and validated in the direct management of confirmed COVID cases of their fifty percent (50%) basic salary increase for the month of April.

The Deputy health minister was making a statement on behalf of the Health Minister, Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu on the update of Covid-19 in Parliament today.

Dr Okoe Boye stated that, the commitment to health workers by the Akufo-Addo government remains unadulterated, firm in its creation and focused on efforts to overcome the pandemic.

The Ledzokuku MP hinted that, so far, one hundred and seventy-eight (178)cases have been confirmed in our Junior and Senior high schools with eight (8)recoveries recorded.

He added that, over one million students, teachers, and non teachers involved in the reopening of schools which gives the percentage infections at 0.0178.this rates the demands adherence to government protocols and not closure of schools.

He used the opportunity to thank God on behalf of President Akufo-Addo and also Good luck message to all senior high schools in their WASSCE candidates as they start exams today.

The minority chief whip and a member of Parliament for Asawase, Hon. Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak Muhammed recommended the government for honouring the 50% salary payments for frontline health workers in April and believed that the rest of the months May and June would follow as well.
