Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp isn’t expected to return to club or international management until at least the summer of 2026, according to a new report.
The highly respected German coach stepped away from the Anfield touchline at the end of last season, citing exhaustion after 23 relentless years in management with barely more than a few weeks off throughout. In a surprising move, Klopp took on the role of Red Bull’s global head of soccer earlier this year, shifting into a more strategic, behind-the-scenes position.
Despite stepping away from frontline management, Jürgen Klopp has recently been linked with a potential return to the dugout.
Real Madrid were reportedly eyeing the 57-year-old as a possible successor to Carlo Ancelotti, who has faced mounting pressure following the club’s Champions League quarter-final exit.
However, Klopp’s agent swiftly shut down the speculation, stating that his client is “very happy with his new role” at Red Bull. While a move to Madrid now appears unlikely, Klopp’s name is certain to feature in future managerial conversations, given his stature in the game.
According to The Telegraph, though, Klopp’s current career outlook “goes no further than Red Bull.” Should he return to management — which remains a possibility rather than a guarantee — he won’t be available until at least the summer of 2026.
