The leadership of GPRTU says President Nana Akuffo Addo has called on the Coalition of Commercial Transport Operators to suspend their indefinite nationwide strike and come to Jubilee house this morning.

According to the leadership of GPRTU, the two-sector ministers, the transport minister and the Minister for Energy did not inform the president about their intended strike happening now.

The President has therefore called on leadership of the driver unions for an emergency meeting at Jubilee House.

According to the transport operators, the government has failed to heed their request to scrap some levies on fuel to cause a reduction in price hence their decision.

Speaking to the media today, a representative of the group and Communications team member for the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, Eric Nii Asirifi has called on to all drivers to go back to work with immediate effect.

All drivers are to go to work now.
