A world-class musical concert dubbed ‘A RAY OF HOPE’ featuring Reggae icon, Taj Weekes, Quino from Big Mountain, Fyah Wyah, Kente and Raingad will take place at My Place Events in Accra on 25th September, this year.

The musical concert will be the highlight of a 7-day charity and networking event scheduled to be held in Accra from 20th September to 27th September.

Taj Weekes, in February 2020, received the Saint Lucia International Goodwill Ambassador, for his notable philanthropic work, and the Saint Lucia Medal of Honor (gold), the third-highest distinction in the Order of Saint Lucia.

Ambassador Weekes was previously conferred with the Saint Lucia Medal of Merit (gold) in 2017.

 


Labeled the Ray of Hope Initiative, this premiere edition will consist of a donation of 5000 pairs of brand new children’s shoes to school children in identified communities around Ghana.

The charity donation of 5000 pairs of brand new children’s shoes has been facilitated by His Excellency Taj Weekes, Goodwill Ambassador for Saint Lucia, and UNICEF Champion for Children through is TOCO Foundation.

In a statement, the organizers of the initiative said the overarching philosophy of this event is that children are our collective heritage; and we can safeguard their future with inclusive and affirmation strategies.

 

A RAY OF HOPE leverages its platform to help youth to expand their network, and through this exposure, imagine new possibilities, which can create a shift in the trajectory of their lives.

A RAY OF HOPE is a joint initiative by My Place Events, Help Is On The Way Ministries (HIOTWM) and They Often Cry Outreach (TOCO) Foundation.

HIOTWM is a humanitarian non-profit organization that provides physical, spiritual, infrastructure, and financial help to developing areas in the world. The nonprofit also provides eye care, vocational training/scholarships, and village improvements, and conducts annual medical missions with medical volunteers to Ghana, Congo, Uganda, and Haiti to provide eye care, perform eye surgeries and donate medical supplies in several towns and villages.

 

Since its establishment in 2003 HIOTWM has been very active in Ghana delivering hope to the less fortunate.

 

TOCO Foundation is also a U.S.-based, not-for-profit organization with a mission to raise awareness and address the issues that affect youth through advocacy and social support.

TOCO’s broad focus also includes Sustainable Agriculture, Environment, Health and Wellness, Diabetes, and Gender Equity. TOCO Foundation has been active throughout the Caribbean since its establishment in 2007, delivering social support and messages of hope to youth and vulnerable communities from Haiti in the North to Trinidad and Tobago in the South.
