The  New Patriotic Party branch  in Sweden has donated to support the party’s national and constituency campaign ahead of the 2024 general election.

The donation, made under the party’s ‘Adopt A Constituency’ initiative, includes four motorbikes and 1,500 T-shirts to be distributed among the Okaikwei North Constituency, Tema East Constituency, and the National Headquarters of the party.

Nana Shaki Frimpong, Chairman of the party’s Council of Elders in Sweden, presented the logistics at the party’s National Headquarters on behalf of his chairman, Richard Oti-Aboagye, on Tuesday, 12 November 2024, and explained the rationale behind the donation.

“From our own resources, we were able to get four motorbikes and 1,500 T-shirts. The party has assigned two constituencies to each external branch, and so each constituency under Sweden will get a motorbike and 500 T-shirts. Two other motorbikes, together with 500 T-shirts, are going to the head office of the National Campaign Team through the National Chairman to be deployed to areas where these resources are needed most.”

He further assured of additional support from the branch towards the party’s election day activities in the quest to retain power.

“Having been here and on the ground, I have witnessed the work that is going into the campaign, and there is still the need for us to come and support the polling stations and agents on election day in terms of feeding and transportation. So when I return in about two weeks to vote, I will surely come with further support to help us break the 8,” he stated.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the leadership of the party, the Director for External Affairs of the NPP, Nana Kwame Kyeretwie Amponsah, applauded the Sweden Branch for the gesture, emphasizing its importance towards the party’s quest for victory.

In addition, parliamentary candidate for one of the beneficial constituency, Tema East Yohane Ashitey Armah who doubles as Tema mayor was also grateful to Sweden branch Chairman, Richard Oti- Aboagye and his team.

The External Affairs Director Kwame Kyeretwie Amponsah again noted that, “The Sweden Branch is one of the 30 branches we have across the world, and we are all aware of the task ahead of us: to make His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the next president of Ghana to continue the good work of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Throughout the history of the party, the invaluable contribution of our external branches can never be ignored, and that has continued till today.

“What we are seeing today has been happening in every election cycle, dubbed the Constituency Adoption Programme. Today, we are witnessing their response to the task given to them by the party, the flagbearer, and the campaign. On behalf of the leadership of the party, I would like to thank the Sweden branch for honouring their duty,” he stated.

He called on other members of the party’s external branches to emulate the example set by the Sweden Branch and commit resources towards the party’s campaign.
