The Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards (GAF Awards) provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the practice and development of the accounting and finance sector while recognizing the key functions within the industry that promote standards

This event is powered by Strategic Accountancy Africa in partnership with Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, National Pensions Regulatory Authority, Pension Africa and endorsed by Ministry of Finance
Some 35 companies and individuals were honoured at the 2019 Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The Partner of Pricewatercoopers Ghana, George Arhin was adjudged the Audit Partner of the Year while the CEO (Jislah Finance), Emmanuel T. Obeng was awarded CEO of the Year (Finance House)

Professor Kwame Boasiako Omane-Antwi. Vice Rector (Pentecost University College)was awarded for his Outstanding Contribution to the Accounting Sector while Kwame Owusu Boateng , CEO , Opportunity International was adjudged the CEO Of The Year (Savings And Loans )

Zenith Bank Ghana Limited won Outstanding Bank Of The while Nationwide Healthcare Insurance won Health Insurance Company of the year
The event was graced by the Representative of Minister for Planning and Director General of National Development Planning Commission Dr.Kodjo Mensah-Abrampa as Special Guest of Honour, Angola Ambassador. Deputy Controller and Accountants General and Representative of Ambassador of United States.

Dr.Kodjo Mensah-Abrampa who was the Special Guest of Honour, noted that over the years, there has been a steady growth in various business sectors of Ghana .This growth is fundamentally due to the resilience of outstanding businesses and individuals

“Over the last 3 years, The Akufo-Addo’s administration has been facing tough times healing the Ghanaian economy which has been broken. The healing process has not been easy; ‘it has been tough; it has been restraining. Despite the tough times, there has been a steady growth in the economy and Ghana has successfully completed of the International Monetary Fund (IMF’s) Extended Credit Facility. , “he stated

He assured companies of Government commitment to transforming the accountancy and finance sectors of this nation and growth for the economy.

“The budget statements read over the years has addressed very pertinent issues that have arisen over the course of time. The government’s budgets read has brought about the abolishing of taxes termed ‘nuisance tax’ , exit from the IMF bailout – and improvement of the macroeconomic indicators within two years after a change of government.” he said
He noted that “There has been a Change from weak banking system to better supervised system, manual process of clearing goods to paperless process and digitized government payments throughout the country. Our economy has changed from one with a weak banking system to a strong, well-capitalised banking system, from a rising debt to GDP rate to a declining debt to GDP rate”
