The Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited (GTFC) as part of its statutory obligations to open the 24th Ghana International Trade Fair at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

The week-long event which is in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Association of Ghana Industries, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce is expected to commence from February 27 through to March 8, 2020.

The fair which has been structured to advance efforts in improving the Value Addition Policy initiated by the current government is on the theme “Value Addition: Trading Globally”.

According to the chief executive officer, Ghana Trade Fair company limited, Mrs. Agnes Adu, the decision to take this year’s exhibition of ‘Made in Ghana’ products to the north was born out of the need to embrace all other parts of the country in the development process.

“Taking this fair out of Accra and taking it to Tamale it also gives us the opportunity to expand our reins, basically to make sure that we’re incorporating all sectors across the length and breadth of this country…We’re just at the beginning of planning how to get you to Tamale. We have a lot of information that we’ll be giving out.” she said.

Addressing the media after the press launch the CEO announced that, over 600 both foreign and local exhibitors are expected to participate in this year’s edition of the international trade Fair., She indicated that adequate interventions have been put in place to inure to the benefit of exhibitors, adding that, no challenges have been recorded so far.

“So far we’re not facing any challenges, we’ve done our feasibility studies, research and done the preparations, logistics, haulage, how we’re transporting stuff from office to Tamale, we’ve done all of that. So far so good”, she noted.

She also noted with satisfaction that, under the new management, plans are taking shape to remodel the Trade Fair site into an international one, and soon construction will be accelerated, now that demolition works have began.
