The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Kwaku Asomah Kyeremeh has revealed that 75% of those who are engaging in illegal mining activities popularly known as galamsey has quitted and now engaging in government’s alternative livelihood project which focuses on providing palm seedlings to individuals for plantation.

Kwaku Asomah Kyeremeh stated government’s agenda to halt illegal mining activities is in progress and currently distributing palm seedlings to galamseyers to help provide them a living out of illegal mining.

The Ministry of lands and Natural Resources together with the Minerals Development Fund today had a ceremony to lift one million palm seedlings to hundreds of galamseyers who have quitted their illegalities.

These one million palm seedlings are being distributed for free for these galamseyers to help them go into farming as an alternative livelihood project.

Hon Asomah Kyeremeh stated that government will soon set up palm oil factories within Dunkwa-on-Offin, Ayamfuri enclave to help these farmers get ready market when their produce are ready.
