Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister Designate for Employment and Labour Relations has insisted that the government of President Akufo-Addo created three million jobs at the end of its first term in office.
He explained that though the exact job figures for the end of year 2020 are not readily available but the figures for September, 2020 indicate that about three million jobs were created.
“I have officially stated the three million jobs and I would be prepared to defend it at any point in time when I get the opportunity”.
Mr Awuah made the observation when he appeared before the Appointment Committee of Parliament for vetting on his nomination for ministerial role.
The nominee has been renominated by President Akufo-Addo for the same ministerial portfolio he held in his first term in office.
The nominee who was the former Minister for Employment and Labour Relations and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West, stated that the three million jobs were created in both the public and private sectors of the economy.
Mr Awuah also clarified that even though he had given the jobs figures to the House sometime ago, however, he was prepared to assist the committee with the documents on the job figures by the close of day.
