The Parliamentary Select Committee’s touring various projects in the Western Region have commended the government and the Western Regional Minister for their efforts in relocating traders at the Takoradi Market Circle to a temporal place.

According to the Committee members, they are impressed with the temporal structures that has been put up by the government through the Secondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) as they claim it shows how prepared they are to temporarily relocate the market women.

The committee’s on Local Government and Rural Development, Works and Housing, Environment, Science and Technology and Finance members are embarking on a tour across the country to inspect ongoing projects by the Zoomlion Ghana Limited in collaboration with the government.

Speaking to the media during the visit to the temporal structures at the Takoradi Market Circle, a Member of the Local Government Committee, Ahmed Ibrahim expressed his enthusiasm in the on going project in the market and region as he says they have shown how prepared they are in other to relocate the traders and complete the new market.

He urged the regional minister to ensure that the market women are well educated on the need to relocate to the new market to help prevent any unforeseen stand off between the traders and the assembly.

The Takoradi Regional Minister, Okyere Darko Mensah revealed that, the project has to be completed in the next 30 months as he also admonished the traders to collaborate with the authority to complete the project swiftly by moving to the temporal market.
