The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema Central has donated 1,200 mathematical sets and pens to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in his constituency.

A total of 517,332 final year Junior High School (JHS) students will write this year’s BECE from Monday, 10th to 14th June, 2019.

The donation formed part of the MP’s yearly programme aimed at improving on the academic well-being of students in Tema.

In all, BECE candidates from 34 schools in the Tema West District benefited from the donation.

The schools included Republic Road JHS, Community 7 Number 1 JHS, Community 8 Numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 JHS, Creator Schools, Tema Christian Centre, First Star Academy JHS and The Angels Specialist School.

This year’s presentation is the sixth time the MP is making such a donation, and in his encouraging words to the candidates, Mr Brako advised them to relax and recollect all that they had been taught.
And with self-confidence and determination, he said they would be able to give a good account of their lessons.

He, furthermore, advised them to read questions carefully before attempting to answer them.

He cautioned the candidates against all forms of examination malpractices to avoid cancellation of their papers, observe and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the examination and advised teachers to also refrain from interfering in the examination process.

He expressed optimism that success awaits them and urged all the candidates to look up to him and his team of professionals who accompanied him during the presentation.
“These people you see with me today were students who attended the same schools you attended in your communities, which had produced us all as role models. That means, you can become like us as well,” he noted.

In a show of appreciation, the candidates thanked Hon. Kofi Brako for the kind gesture and other infrastructural developments such as ICT centers in public schools, and prayed that God blesses him with more health and resources to continue contributing to the academic well-being of students in the district.
