President of the Republic of Ghana who doubles as the ECOWAS chairperson, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially opened the emergency extraordinary Summit on the situation in Mali yesterday at Kempinski Hotel in Ghana.
During his opening address, President Akufo-Addo urged the heads of states present to remain resolute in supporting the people of Mali to find a peaceful solution and restore democracy and stability in the country by critically examining the current situation and make informed decisions.
As chairperson of the ECOWAS commission, president Akufo-Addo reiterated the continued commitment of ECOWAS to the peaceful transition in Mali with the basic goal of restoring democratic government and working for the stability of Mali and the region.
The Heads of States Present at the emergency meeting were Ghana; President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Guinea- Bissau; General Umaro Sissoco Embaló, SierraLeone; Julius Maada Bio, Cote D’lvoire, Alassane Ouattara, The Gambia; Adana Barrow, Nigeria; Muhammadu Buhari, Burkina Faso; Marc Christian Kabore, Niger; Mohamed Bazoum, Mali; Colonel Assimi Goita, Togo; Faure Essizimna Gnassingbe, Liberia; George Manneh Weah, Senegal; Mrs Aissata Tall Sall, Benin Foreign Minister ; Aurelian Agbennci, Former Nigeria President; Goodluck Jonathan, President of ECOWAS Commission; Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, and Vice President, ECOWAS Commission, Finda Koroma.
