The Chairman of the Ghana National Gas Company,  Hon Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has commended the CEO and management of Ghana National Gas Company for indigenizing the human resource of the company and instilling a strong belief in the local Ghanaian talent and workforce.

He made this commendation at a media soiree organized by the Ghana National Gas Company as part of activities to celebrate its 10th-year milestone, at its corporate office at Roman Ridge in Accra on Thursday.

The company which began effective operations in 2015 with the production of 60 million standard cubit feet per day with a foreign workforce, is now producing 300 million cubit feet per day, with local expertise.

The Assin Central MP expressed his delight that Ghana Gas is one of the most viable state governed companies so far.

Kennedy Agyapong highlighted the strategy by the Chief Executive Dr. Ben Asante in recruiting local expertise to replace the expatriate labor and urged other state governed companies to emulate the shining example of the management and staff of Ghana Gas.

Dr, Ben Asante, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Gas said the staff of Ghana Gas who have steered the success of the company thus far, have deep knowledge and understanding of the industry.

He disclosed some achievements of Ghana Gas in the recent past have contributed to the present high-performing status of the company, such as the Takoradi interconnection project, and the installation of 2 compressors at Anokye.

He said in the future the company would advance its technical capabilities by expanding its processing capacity to handle the incremental upscale flow from the Jubilee and TEN fields.

He further revealed that the company was partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture to venture into the non-power uses of gas with interest in fertilizer production as well as the possibility of supplying gas-powered trains in the future,

Ernest Owusu Bempah, the head of corporate communications at Ghana Gas for his part said it was his outfit’s focus was to deepen relations with the media in a bid to communicate effectively with Ghanaians.

He also revealed that the indigenization drive which was a deliberate corporate policy has yielded enormous benefits for the nation, including savings of about $3million monthly.

He also accentuated Ghana Gas’s corporate social responsibilities with the company making social investments in all 16 regions of Ghana.

Ghana National Gas Company is the nation’s premier midstream gas business company that owns and operates the infrastructure required for the gathering, processing, transporting, and marketing of natural gas resources in Ghana and internationally.

With a workforce of over 600, the company’s mission is to contribute to Ghana Gas economic development by providing and operating the infrastructure required for gathering, processing, and delivering natural gas resources in a safe cost-effective responsible, and reliable manner to its customers.

The Ghana National Gas Company was incorporated in July 2011 to give true meaning to local content development in the oil and gas industry in Ghana.

Some activities undertaken by the company include exploration, production and aggregation, gathering, processing, transmission, distribution, and utilization, in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the industry.
