Some business owners who operate within the Accra sports stadium are without electricity to power their refrigerators to keep beverages cold for sale.

This follows the Electricity Company of Ghana’s operation disconnecting the sports stadium for owing about G¢508,000.

In an attempt to recoup some of its liabilities, ECG has taken steps to disconnect some key state institutions that owe the company for months, including the Ghana Airports Company.

Meanwhile, some business owners who spoke to Citi News off-record alleged that they have paid rent and utility bills to the tune of about GH¢100,000 to managers of the Accra Sports Stadium and wonder why they should bear the consequences of the disconnection.

When Citi News visited the premises of the Accra Sports stadium at about 4:55 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, two power generators were running concurrently to keep some offices operational.

The Public Affairs office of the National Sports Authority was not available for comments.
