The Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam Addoagyiri, Frank Annor Dompreh has cautioned the minority in Ghana’s Parliament not to use unpleasant words to condemn or demonize the office of the national identification authority.

He explained that the NIA was rendered useless many years past due to poor resources and inadequate funding under successive governments until President Akufo-Addo’s government came in to raise it to the current standards Ghana is witnessing.

Mr Dompreh further said the office is now very potent in currying a lot of national assignments which includes the national identification card (Ghana Card) and therefore must be supported and encouraged in the field of work instead of condemning it.

He advised the minority to be moderate in their criticism against the institution else, very soon, many Ghanaians would not take the office and its services seriously.

The chief whip made these remarks in a press briefing today when the Parliament invited the management of the national identification authority to appear and brief them on their current performance with respect to the registration and issuance of Ghana cards to people that have gone through the process to own the card.
