The Chairman of the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee of Parliament and MP for Nsuta Kwaman-Beposo, Kwame Asafo Adjei has called on the ranking member of the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee of Parliament Eric Opoku to render unqualify apology to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo for his irresponsible comments made against the President.

Eric Opoku who is the ranking member of the committee made such irresponsible comments against the President during their press conference on the Cocoa industry by saying the president is wicked to Cocoa farmers in the country.

According to the Chairman of the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, Kwame Asafo Adjei, the minority has always made negative stories about the Cocoa industry when cocobod is seeking for syndicated loan to buy Cocoa for the year.

Speaking to Oman Fm Parliamentary correspondent Nana Ampofo Ayeh, he indicated that when such negative stories are told about our Cocoa it affects the pricing of Cocoa in the country.

Furthermore, Asafo Adjei said the claim of ownership or introduction of Free Fertilizer Policy is false.

He said it was an idea of late Dr M.R Appiah of Cocoa Research Institute, (GRIC) at Tafo which was adopted by President Kuffour in 2003 that saw a big boost in Cocoa tonnage.

Mr Asafo Adjei said after NPP left office in 2008 Cocoa production continue to drop due to politicization of the policy by the NDC.
