The Member of Parliament for Ekumfi Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Kingsley Ato Cudjoe has appealed to chiefs in and around Ekumfi District to release lands for the growing of pineapple to feed Ekumfi Fruits Factory.

According to him, about 4000 acres of land is required for the growing of pineapple to feed the factory, but said only 600 acre pineapple farm is available leaving the remaining 3400 acres pineapple farm yet to be cultivated.

The Ekumfi Fruits Factory which is under the government flagship program 1D1F started about two years ago.

According to officials of the factory, work so far is about 95% complete.

Speaking on Oman FM Hon. Ato Cudjoe explained that the factory when commissioned and begins the processing of pineapple would offer about 500 direct jobs to the unemployed youth in the district.
