The Minister for Roads Hon. Kwaku Asiamah during the 9th WARSO general conference held in Ghana disclosed that road safety programmes initiated by the organization has brought up many ideas to curb road crashes on the West Africa Sub-Region, speaking at the conference he said WARSO which was formed 11 years has see to promoting and reinforcing road safety practices to reduce the socio-economic effects of roads traffic crashes in the West Africa -Sub Region.
He said West Africa Road Safety Organization has embarked on several programmes and projects in partnership with relevant stake holders aimed at addressing some contemporary issues on road safety management . The Minister said this has been done over the years by facilitating knowledge and information sharing, and experience among member countries.
He further disclosed that the empowerment by Parliament to now become NRSA is another chance to assist stake holders like the MTTD,Roads and Highways Authority in the arrest and prosecution of drivers who default road traffic regulations.
The Board Chairman of the National Road Safety Authority NRSA, Rev. Ismala .H. Awudu also added that the annual WARSO Conference has widely help in reducing road crashes.
