Management of Leyaata Hospital at Carpenter in the Bole District of the Savannah Region has launched a Hypertension Clinic to combat the alarming rate of the disease in the Region.

In Ghana, records have it that one out of every three People has the high blood pressure disease.

In 2019, the Ghana Health Service Team that partnered the Leyaata Hospital decided to conduct a study dubbed the “CEO-HEART” Study to assess the prevalence of hypertension in rural communities in the Savannah Region and the findings showed a very alarming trend.

The leader of the Study Group in the person of Dr. Sandra Peniston spoke in interview with Peace News about how they discovered the problem.

Dr. Sandra continued that after discovering the problem they needed to find a solution to it, but the establishment of the Hypertension Clinic at the Hospital will provide a holistic approach to caring for patients with the disease.

Medical Director of the Leyaata Hospital Dr. Benjamin Asubio on his part said they prioritized hypertension because since the establishment of the hospital two years ago they have seen the high attendance of hypertension patients.
