President-elect John Dramani Mahama has announced that President Nana Akufo-Addo has committed to ensuring a smooth and peaceful transfer of power, setting the stage for a collaborative transition between the outgoing and incoming administrations.

Mahama shared that both teams have agreed to start the transition process earlier than expected, with discussions set to begin on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

In his victory speech, delivered shortly after the Electoral Commission declared him president-elect, Mahama stressed the importance of a unified approach to the transition, highlighting that cooperation will be essential to driving the nation’s progress forward.

“I have also just received a call from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo. He graciously congratulated me, and we took the opportunity to discuss matters related to the joint transition team,” Mahama said.
