Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has issued a strong warning regarding delays in the presentation of the Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation for the first quarter of 2025. The Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, missed the December 19 deadline to present the document for parliamentary approval. This document is essential for the allocation of government funds for January to March 2025.
Members of the Minority in Parliament have raised concerns, alleging that the government is deliberately delaying the submission, which could potentially disrupt both parliamentary procedures and government operations. In contrast, the Second Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, reassured the House that the document would be presented as planned on December 22.
Speaker Bagbin highlighted the importance of approving the mini-budget on time to avoid any disruptions to the transition to the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. He called on parliamentarians to cooperate in ensuring the swift passage of the document, stressing that failure to do so could delay crucial government processes before the new government takes over.
