Grace Ofure Ibhakhomu, the CEO of Lifecard Group, has called for a renewal of workplace mindsets to drive higher productivity and improve job satisfaction.

She emphasized that many workplaces suffer from low efficiency, and a shift in perspective is essential to change this narrative.

Speaking at the launch of the 9 to 5 Compendium Training Initiative on February 7, 2025, a programme designed to reshape workplace culture and equip professionals with the right mindset for greater productivity and fulfillment, Ibhakhomu urged the Ghanaian government to implement in-service training programs for civil servants.

“What is important is for you to become a high performer,” she stated.

“There is so much depression, and people are committing suicide because of their work environment. This training will teach them how to be excited about their jobs, create wealth, and contribute to economic growth. Whether in the private or public sector, employees drive the economy, so I encourage the government to support this initiative to create a robust environment.”

The initiative is inspired by Ibhakhomu’s book 9 to 5 Is Not a Scam, which challenges negative perceptions of structured employment.

The programme highlights how individuals can use their careers as a pathway to financial growth, skill development, and long-term success.

Ibhakhomu emphasized that negative attitudes toward 9-to-5 jobs often stifle creativity and productivity. The training initiative seeks to overcome these limitations by fostering a growth-oriented mindset and equipping professionals with essential skills for success.

Nkechi Akunyili, CEO of Access View Africa and a Lifecard strategic partner, explained that the training programme caters to both employees and employers.

According to her, it seeks to transform workplace culture by urging organizations to prioritize employee growth and development alongside output.
