The Network of Women in Broadcasting (NOWIB) will hold its official launch and inauguration ceremony on March 14, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the British Council in Accra. The event will feature Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Ghana’s Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, as the specials guest of honour.

The ceremony marks a significant milestone for the organization dedicated to connecting, empowering, and inspiring women in Ghana’s broadcasting industry. Distinguished guests expected to attend include representatives from various women’s groups, members of the Diplomatic Corps, heads of foreign agencies, media organization executives, journalists, and veteran journalists.

Special guests include Fatimatu Abubakar, former Minister of Information, and Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Lawyer and Special Aide to President John Mahama, further highlighting the event’s significance in bringing together influential women leaders across government and media sectors.

“The inauguration of NOWIB represents a watershed moment for women in Ghana’s broadcasting landscape,” said Maame Biamah Akwafo, President of NOWIB. “For too long, women in our industry have faced unique challenges that have limited their advancement and recognition. This network will serve as a vital platform for mentorship, professional development, and advocacy to ensure that women’s voices are amplified both within and through broadcasting media.”

The event is sponsored by KK Peprah, Blue Skies, Dede Classics, and Capital View Hotel.

NOWIB’s mission focuses on creating opportunities for women in broadcasting through networking, skills development, and promoting gender-sensitive content across all media platforms. The organization aims to address the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions within Ghana’s media industry and advocate for policies that support women’s career advancement in broadcasting.

Media representatives are invited to attend and cover this landmark event.
