The 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Michael Omare Wadie, says he expects the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to eventually become the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party ahead of the 2020 general elections.

This follows the announcement by the party hierarchy on Tuesday, to conduct the party’s presidential primaries on APRIL 25, 2020.

Michael Omare Wadie made these assertions in an interview with NET2 TV on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the NPP announced April 25, 2020 as its chosen date to conduct its presidential primaries to select its flagbearer for the 2020 general elections as well as conduct primaries for constituencies with sitting members of parliament.

Expressing his opinion on the announcement, Michael Omare Wadie was confident, the party would choose the incumbent president, Nana Akufo-Addo as its presidential candidate for the elections.

The 3rd vice chairman also laid bare the rationale for the upcoming 3 in 1 elections, comprising of a referendum, the district assembly elections and unit elections.

He decried the hypocrisy surrounding the status quo, especially regarding the selection of MMDCEs along political partisan basis.

Michael Omare Wadie wasted no time in endorsing a YES vote for the upcoming referendum.

Meanwhile, The Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Tuesday, to use the colour yellow to depict a YES vote and dark brown to depict a NO vote on the ballot paper in the upcoming December 17, 2019 referendum for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
