Envy-filled John Dramani Mahama has instructed the leadership of the National Democratic Congress in Parliament to boycott President Akufo-Addo’s State of the Nation’s Address being delivered on February 20, 2020.

While the two former Presidents, Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufour made their ways to the august House of Parliament with their respective partners, Mahama chose to stay out in order to campaign in parts of the country.

To the extent that Mrs Naadu Mills and Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur availed themselves in Parliament with Lordina Mahama and her husband conspicuously absent from the House, Mahama’s absence cannot be deemed to be an ordinary one.

The Minority in Parliament, no sooner had the President entered the House of Parliament than they walked out, upon the instructions of the flagbearer of the opposition party.

A few former Members of Parliament and party elders of the NDC were in Parliament to listen to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as he delivered the State of the Nation’s Address.

This development further reveals the unpatriotic attitude of the former president who believes it is either his way or no way.

Ghana’s democracy has walked back some distances due to the actions of the former President and the Minority in Parliament.

It is not immediately clear what has precipitated this new turn of events but it is believed that the walkout is hinged on the party’s never-ending battles with the Electoral Commission as the electoral body prepares to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 elections.
