Ghana’s efforts at combating the intrusion and spread of the coronavirus in the country, has been praised.

The eulogy came after a traveller who had just returned from Ghana, called into a UK radio programme to express his amazement at the preparedness of Ghana in its attempt to protect its citizens from the deadly outbreak of the virus.

It may be recalled that, last week, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo paid a working visit to some vulnerable locations and medical response stations including the Kotoka International Airport and Tema General and the Greater Accra Regional hospitals, after which he expressed his satisfaction on the preparations done by the health authorities so far.

The President also during the 63rd independence reminded ghanaians on the need to prioritise personal hygiene to contain the viral threat.

In an apparent surprise and shocked at the high levels of preparedness, a phone in contributor to the UK radio show, was at sea how, a supposed third world country like Ghana, could do so well to be that prepared.

The caller who is a cabin crew of an unnamed airline compared his experience to that of Heathrow Airport and described the officials at the Kotoka International airport professional and on top of issues.

Ghana’s neighbours of Togo and Burkina Faso have both recorded one and 2 cases respectively, with no deaths so far, with Nigeria also having recorded its second case on Monday.
So far, in Ghana even though 15 persons have been tested for possible infections of the coronavirus, none of the tests have returned positive.
