The Deputy Finance Minister, Charles Adu Boahen has told Parliament that, government has made funds available to pay all front line workers in the COVID-19 fight.
Mr Boahen explained that, as the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in March 2020 announced an incentive packages for for the health sector as far as COVID-19 pandemic, preparedness, readiness and response action is concern including the fifty percent salary increase (50% salary increment).
He said, adequate provisions has been made for these incentives package within the COVID-19 alleviation plan which the government has made about eighty million Ghana cedis ( Gh 80 Million) for this package.
The Deputy finance Minister added that, the Ministry of finance and Ministry of health together are compiling a data and doing the necessary conciliation to determine a particular health sector workers who are eligible for the category as front line workers for the fifty percent (50%) salary package.
He added that, the process is still on going and payment will start as soon as the data compilation process is completed.
The response from Mr Charles Adu Boahen came up at the plenary when the Hon. Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Benjamin Kpodo filled an urgent question to find out from the government, as to when these front front line workers incentive packages would be paid to them as promised by the government.
