The chief of Adukurom in the Akuapem Traditional Area, Ahunuabobrim Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, in his contribution in the fight against the novel corona virus pandemic, has donated food items, hand sanitizers and nose masks among other assorted items worth over GHC 8,000 to the aged women and widows within Adukrom and its environs to enhance their standards of living during this difficult time.
The assorted items includes 16 bags of 5kg of rice, 7 boxes of 1.5 litres of cooking oil, 6 boxes of sardines, 7 boxers of hand sanitizers, and nose masks. In all over 80 aged women and widows benefited from the gesture.
Speaking to the media after the presentation, the chief of Adukrom underscored the need to support the aged and widows in his town during this pandemic. He said that the gesture was meant to cushion their needs looking at their living conditions.
He therefore appealed to citizens of Adukrom living in the Diaspora both home and abroad to imitate same, especially in this time of the covid-19 pandemic.
He advised the general public not to stigmatize the aged and widows.
He urged the general public to adhere to the precautionary measures prescribed by the government and the World Health Organisation in fighting COVID 19 pandemic.
Some beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to the chief and his elders for the immense contributions towards the needy in the fight against the pandemic.
Meanwhile a native of Adukrom has also presented 20 gallons of liquid soap, 20 gallons of disinfectant, 80 pieces of hand sanitizers, 4 boxes of gloves, 6 packs of hand tissues, and veronica buckets to the Adukrom Health Centre to help fight corona virus.
Speaking to the media, Asare Tieku said the gesture was meant to support the hospital during this time, to facilitate adherence to precautionary measures laid down by the health service.
He urged citizens of Adukrom to continue to observe the safety health protocols needed to prevent the spread of the COVID 19.
The Physician Assistant at the Adukrom Health Centre who received the items on behalf of the directorate expressed his profound gratitude to the chief and the team for the immense contribution toward the fight of the pandemic.
He was hopeful the gesture will go a long way to support their work during these times and appealed for more support from various stakeholders.
