An energy expert with Seattle University in the United Sates of America, Dr Henry Louis has underscored the need for African governments to invest in the training of engineers if they want to resolve challenges in the energy sector.

He explained that engineers are the backbone of the energy sector emphasizing that, they have to be trained so they become abreast with emerging technologies in both renewable, thermal and hydro power.

He made the call at a four day power Africa conference which opened in Abuja, capital of Nigeria today.

The conference which is under the theme ‘Power Economics and Energy Innovation in Africa brought together academicians, researchers, policy makers, students and CEO’s including CEO of Ghana Grid Company, Ing. Jonathan Amoako-Baah.

Speaking in an interview with Oman FM’s Michael Creg Afful , Dr Henry Louis noted that challenges in the power sector in Africa is increasing all over the world because of the growing population.
