Ahafo Regional Police Command has launched a pilot Community Safety Patrols program in Goaso as part of the police commands strategy for crime prevention, building public confidence and trust in police in the communities.

According to the Ahafo police command, the safety patrols are also expected to facilitate the sharing of crime-related information between the police and the community.

The first phase of the pilot community safety patrols has 60 police personnel divided into 6 groups under a command of one Inspector each and details at 6 zones within Goaso town for patrols.

The Deputy Ahafo Regional Police Commander, DCOP David Eklu explained the reasons to the media.

DCOP David Eklu has therefore appealed to the chiefs and people in the Ahafo region to volunteer information on the crime to the police command to enable their quick and timely intervention.
