To help curb the spread of the novel COVID-19 virus in the Afigya kwabre South district of the Ashanti Region, the Afigya Kwabre South District assembly has distributed two thousand nose masks, tissues and liquid soap to citizens as part of measures to help stop the spread of the virus.
The exercise according to the District Chief Executive, Christian Adu-Poku is the first phase of the distribution exercise by the assembly.
According to Christian Adu Poku, the assembly has thought it wise to provide the nose masks to citizens within the district so that they can use to protect themselves from the COVID-19 and also use it to enforce the wearing of the mask.
He said after the distribution the compliance of the wearing of the mask will be intensified so that the virus will not be spread in the district.
He added that the assembly has procured ten thousand of the nose mask which is going to be given to market women, lorry terminals, passengers and households across the district.

Hon Christian Adu Poku used the opportunity to called on the citizenry to adhere to the set up protocols by the government.

The following areas within the district benefitted from phase one of the distribution, Kodie Aduman taxi station, kodie police station, kodie township, Kodie Mowire taxi station, Buoho market women, Afrancho market women, Afrancho township and Bronkong township.
The district health director, Christiana Kontor who also joined in the distribution of the nose masks outlined some of the measures put in place by the health directorate.
According to her, the directorate has set education committee to go round and educate the public about the virus in the vicious communities.
