The Techiman Municipal Director of Births and Deaths Registry; Mr David Kofi Sieh has lauded government effort to integrate Births and Deaths Registry to the National Identification Authority (NIA) database which he said would enhance the identification of true citizens of the country.
Speaking to newsmen in an interview in Techiman Bono East Regional capital, Mr David opined that the current approval by cabinet to decentralize the issuance of birth certificates at Metropolitan, Municipal and district offices throughout the country is in order and that would do away with the beaurucracy in the work.
Mr.Sieh said upon hearing from the Vice President of Ghana ,Dr Mahamadu Bawumia announcing such intervention said he was enthused and therefore appealed to government to fast track the implementation of decentralizing the printing and issuance of birth certificates which is the basic and the first identity of a citizen because immediately one give birth , the parents of the newborn baby would contact his or her District Office to register for a Birth certificate and that would do away with foreigners forgery information to secure Birth certificates for their relatives .
The Techiman municipal Director lauded the effort of the Acting National Registrar of Births and Deaths Registry: Rev. Kingsley Asare Adoo for his input and further appealed to parents to provide accurate information when seeking for Birth certificates for their wards and said when Ghanaians are able to comply by this directives ,NIA database could be a reliable source for every government to plan for the country and when a citizen reaches the voting age, there would not be any challenge because they already have accurate data from the Births and Deaths Registry .
Finally, Mr.Sieh said in addition to what the government have done the Secretariat need some logistics likes Cars ,Motor Bikes to enable them embark on Mobile Registration since Olivier always ask for more hence the appeal from government and philanthropists to come to their aid.
