The Ministry of Business Development has said over 90,000 jobs have been created from the Presidential Business Support Programme in the past three years.

The Sector Minister, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal said this at the launch of window three of the Presidential business support program on Monday.

He said government’s overall goal of the support program is to support economic growth through the development of entrepreneurship and innovative programmes that create more jobs, generate more income, and help to reduce poverty.

According to him, the policy also aims to create and strengthen an entrepreneurial environment through vigorous training of young entrepreneurs and supporting them with soft loans.

Dr Awal said his ministry has spearheaded thousands of jobs created under the ‘Capacity-Building for Young Entrepreneurs and Start-ups’ programme.

He further explained that these efforts by government and his ministry were achieved through various initiatives and key interventions instituted to improve the entrepreneurial capacity of Ghanaians, particularly the youth, in order to create jobs and wealth.

Dr Awal noted that some of the interventions include the Presidential Business Support Programme (PBSP) which has provided structured entrepreneurship and business development training for young entrepreneurs.

Dr Awal said under the third phase of the PBSP, some 26,000 entrepreneurs are expected to receive training and additional technical support, mentorship and business advisory services.
