President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on world leaders to move beyond mere rhetoric and take decisive, concrete steps to tackle the global climate crisis.

Speaking at the World Climate Leaders Summit during COP29 in Azerbaijan on Wednesday, November 13, President Akufo-Addo stressed the urgent need for effective actions to protect the most vulnerable communities from the escalating threats of climate change.

As the planet faces growing environmental challenges, the President emphasized that immediate, impactful solutions are crucial to safeguard lives and ecosystems worldwide. “As we gather here, we must show that we are more than just individuals or policymakers; we are people united by our love for the land and our shared responsibility to protect it,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo underscored the pivotal importance of the decisions made at COP29, noting that the future of today’s children depends on the actions taken now. “This summit must be a turning point—from dialogue to real, meaningful action,” he urged.

A key focus of COP29 is climate financing, and the President further called on developed nations to honor their commitments by providing financial support to help accelerate the global transition to renewable energy sources.
