Donations worth over GHC1.3 MILLION and $5,000 were on Thursday received by the COVID-19 National Trust Fund at the Jubilee House. The donations were made by some 16 companies and institutions who made cheque presentations as well as products and vehicles to assist govt in the fight to contain the deadly Corona-virus disease in Ghana.
As of Wednesday, 22 April 2020, over GHC34 million has been received from various companies, institutions and well-wishers especially from the private sector, who have heeded the appeal by the
President of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his quest to resource the fight against the spread of the viral disease.
Some of the companies included Promasidor Ghana Limited, which presented a cheque of Seventy Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 70,000.00) and Sixty Thousand Cedis worth of their flagship products, Cowbell milk and Miksi, to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund to support their mandate.
CFAO Motors, a leading automobile distributor in Africa and the French overseas territories has donated two Mitsubishi L200 pick-up trucks to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund to support their efforts and mandate in the national effort to stop the spread of Covid-19 in Ghana.
At a brief ceremony held at the offices of the Covid-19 Trust Fund at the Jubilee House, Sophia Akuffo, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Covid-19 National Trust Fund, after receiving the cheque donations and the products stated that the gesture of the benefactors are deeply appreciated by the fund and by extension the people of Ghana. She assured them that the fund will make available the products to the needy and vulnerable as mandated the Act 1013 as well as the front line health workers in the fight to prevent the virus from gaining any more grounds in the country.
Others were the GHANA Consulting Engineers Association, whose President,, ING. W. D. A. Viala, presented Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) to the fund, Chemico Limited, (Agro Chemical and Fertilizers), One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00), Societe Generale Ghana, Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 500,000.00), Free SHS One Hot Meal Food Vendors Association, Thirteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 13,000.00), the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00), Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 30,000.00), ADK Consortium, Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00), Azar Group, One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00).
The rest are the Energy Commission, Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00), Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00), Believers Love World Incorporated, Sixty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 60,000.00), Minerals Commission, One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00), New Apostolic Church, One Hundred and Twenty One Thousand, Four Hundred Ghana Cedis (GHc 121,400.00), and the Securities and Exchange Commission Ghana, Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00) and 200 packs of Bottle Water, 40 gallons of Hand Sanitizers and 20 Veronica Buckets.
