The Deputy National Security Coordinator, Edward Kweku Asomani has assured Ghanaians of their efforts to help clamp down on threats of terrorism in the country.
According to him, there are a lot of measures they have put in place to curb any insurgent threats from terrorist groupings that are emerging in the African Sub-region.
He gave the assurance when addressing the press at the Information Ministry’s Meet the Press Series encounter held in Accra.
Mr Asomani highlighting the terrorist attacks in Africa stressed, that about 346 attacks have been recorded I’m the first quarter of the year with 49% of these attacks have occurred in the Sub-Region with recent happenings in Ghana’s neighboring countries worrying for us.
He noted that these terrorist groupings usually attack countries with Gold reserves which he says leaves Ghana closer to becoming a target for them but they have adequate preparation in place.
Mr Asomani also used the opportunity to appeal to the citizenry to be more cautious and vigilant and report to authorities when they see something fishy since only the national security can not fight the attack but citizens as well.
