The Ghana Tourism Authority on Wednesday launched the Emancipation day 2020 celebration and Do Ghana Travel Ghana festival in Accra.
The program was organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and its meant to stimulate domestic tourism in the country.
The Emancipation day 2020 celebration which was launched virtually via zoom was on the theme “Our heritage, Our Resilience, Black life Matters.
Designed to build confidence in Ghana’s post COVID-19 future, the campaign will focus its activities online.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Dr. Ziblim Iddi Barri, who launched the festival said, Ghanaians should rekindle their commitment to the total emancipation and progress of Africa.
Emancipation Day should remind us again that the Africa family had been separated and that the deferent factions of the family both of the mother continent and in the diaspora have suffered from brutal and traumatic separation.
Dr Ziblim Barri therefore called for a shared heritage as we use the vehicle of tourism and the creative arts to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between our brothers and sisters in the diaspora.
Emancipation Day is also aimed at rekindling the flame of unity among black people everywhere and highlight the interconnecting nature of their struggles.
