Ghana Health Service (GHS) to embark on mass drug adminstration in the country in efforts to eliminate diseases such as elephantiasis, river blindness, bilharzia and intestinal worm infestation.

According to the GHS, the exercise will be conducted in all the 126 endemic districts and provide health education.

Speaking to Oman News at a media engagement on neglected tropical disease programme, the Acting Director General of GHS, Dr. Patrick Aboagye said people should desist from spreading false rumours as the GHS set to role out the mass drug administration.

Dr. Patrick Aboagye also appealed to opinion leaders in the various assemblies to support the GHS to ensure a successful campaign.

On her part, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee said Ghanaians must keep their environment clean to avoid from such infectious diseases.

She also cautioned people who defecate to desist from such practice to ensure a healthy society.
