The Hon. deputy minister for Lands and natural resources , Benito Owusu-Bio has told Parliament today, government has employed fourty four thousand, eight hundred and sixy two (44,862) Ghanain youth in YOUTH IN AFORESTATION PROGRAM between 2017 and June 2020.
He explained that, there NPP government introduced this initiative to engage the youth to help in boosting out crop production and also help in maintaining degrading lands across the country.
Mr. Owusu-Bio further added that, the ministry of lands and natural resources through its multi sectorial and integrated project which is supported by Ghana artisinal and small scale mining organization projects is currently conducting faceline projects on land degradation in some selected mining communities in the country, notably PRESTIA HUNIVALY in the Western region and KYEBI in the Eastern region.
The response of the lands and natural resources minister Benito Owusu-Bio came up the the Hon. Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George asked on the question on behalf of MP for Amenfi West, Eric Afful, the total number of Ghanaian youth that has been employed under Forestry commission, Youth in Aforestation and the achievements of this initiative.
