Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, has refuted allegations that Police personnel deployed for the inaugural ceremony of President Akufo-Addo are too many.

The Police Service has deployed about six thousand personnel to provide security.

Speaking at a news briefing in Accra, Madam Ayorkor Botchway said the function is international in nature and there is the need to deploy the highest form of security.

Meanwhile, Security Expert, Col. Festus Aboagye, has asked the Police to ensure they balance the deployment of personnel to other critical areas in the capital on January 7, when the President, Vice President, Speakers and Members of Parliament are sworn in.

The Ghana Police Service had earlier announced that six thousand Police Personnel will be deployed for the swearing-in ceremony, raising concerns that the security of other areas may be compromised.

Col. Aboagye justified the number of personnel being deployed for the swearing-in ceremony.
