As part of measures to make sure government of Ghana’s ongoing projects in the Ashanti region are on course and well executed, the Ashanti regional minister Hon.Simon Osei Mensah have toured to inspect projects that have been awarded to Contracta UK for execution.


The Regional Minster together with Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi the Metropolitan chief executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan assembly and the entourage’s first port of call was the abandoned 44year old mother and baby unit block at the Komfo Anokye Teaching which was recently to Contracta UK for its completion by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to have a first hand information about the progress of work.


The project manager for both Mother and Baby unit block at KATH and the phase two of the Kumasi central Market redevelopment project Mr.Jorge Tarar Tavars who took the team round said they have detected several defects on the 44 years old MBU block which needs to be fixed.


He also said they have finished clearing the site to pave way for the phase two works to begin.


He said although they have started with the iron works at the site the COVID-19 pandemic has been their main challenges.

The regional minister and his team then stopped over at the Kumasi International Airport to inspect ongoing works.

The project consultant Nana Ametepe told the Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei Mensah and his entourage that about 52% of the work has been completed and they are very optimistic of handing over to the Ghana government by June 2021.

Hon Simon Osei Mensah later rounded his tour at Oforikrom Municipality and Manhyia sub metro to also inspect road construction projects that was recently handed over to Contracta UK by Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
