The Special Prosecutor nominee, lawyer Kissi Agyabeng has today told the appointment committee of Parliament, in order to fight against corruption effectively, he would have fewer friends and stop picking calls so as not to be influenced in line of his duty.

He made these remarks known to the committee when the Hon Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare asked how he was going to handle issues with respect to our culture as Ghanaians as we give reverence to the elders and people in positions.

The nominee admitted that things would not be easy considering our culture and the respect we have for our elderly ones, but his focus would be on the laws of the country in order to achieve his purpose.

Mr. Kissi Agyabeng further told the Committee that, in order to handle corruption and corruption-related issues well, he would engage with Civil Society Organizations, non-governmental Organizations, Community based Organisations, and finally the Investigation Journalists for more information to execute his duties.

He made this submission when the Hon Member of Parliament for Assin South and deputy minister for Education, Rev Ntim Fordjour asked how best he is going to fight to regain the lost trust in Ghanaians with respect to the corruption fight, especially with the office of the Special Prosecutor as his predecessor, Mr. Martin A.B.K.Amidu could not achieve the expectations of Ghanaians.
