After successful negotiations with the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB), the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), and the IFBB have settled on the 4th and 5th of March, 2022 to organize the first-ever IFBB certify judges course in Ghana. Though the course will be organized in Ghana the course is going to be open to other neighboring Africa countries.
At a meeting with the president of the IFBB during the 2021 IFBB World championship in Barcelona, Spain, the president of the GBFA, Abdul Hayye Yartey, negotiated for a judging course to be organized in Ghana.
He said “Ghana is blessed with good athletes Mr. President; but one thing that has slowed the development of our sport, is the quality of the judging. We don’t have any certified judge in Ghana and I believe a judging course to certify judges in Ghana will go a long way to develop the sport in Ghana”.
Upon Mr. Yartey request, the president of the International Federation of Bodybuilding IFBB, Dr. Rafael Santonja accepted the project of holding an IFBB Judges Course and has sanctioned the first-ever IFBB Judges Course in Ghana.
The IFBB will send an International Judges Course instructor, who will conduct the course
Mr. Yartey said “The format will be a Seminar, in which the students will receive a certificate of participation, but they will not receive the International Judges Card, because the international judge’s card is only received after they make the practices in an international event. We (GBFA) will facilitate and help certify students to obtain the international judge’s card after the course”.
The course will also include The IFBB Fitness Challenge course, which is aimed at educating participants about the regulations of this new IFBB category modality.
It is an important modality that is already included in the international calendar of events of the IFBB, and will be an essential part of the IFBB participation in several Games from the Olympic program, for example, the African Beach Games. The course is composed of a lecture, video clips, and practical sessions.
The concept would be a Fitness Educative Weekend
