Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, has shown interest in succeeding President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as President of Ghana in 2024.
He claims that if he wins the party primaries and the general election, he would utilize his first 100 days in power as President to alter Ghanaians’ attitudes.
He said that he would alter the fortunes of the young because of the high rate of unemployment and that as a businessman and entrepreneur, he will utilize his presidency to generate jobs for the youth.
He said that if the ruling party wants to break the eight, which is their watchword for 2024, they must do it with Kennedy Agyapong.
“Yes, it is correct. I’ve decided that when the NPP opens nominations, I’ll choose a form and submit my candidacy to run for flagbearer in the party primary… Kennedy Agyapong stated in a Facebook live interview with The Announcer Newspaper on Wednesday, May 26: “I will run on the NPP ticket and nothing will change.”
Why is it necessary to compete for the position of flagbearer?
According to the Chairman of Parliament’s Defence Committee, he is the finest person to carry on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-legacy. Addo’s
“When you look at Ghana now, the only person who can carry on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-legacy Addo’s is me, Kennedy Agyapong, and I have that confidence.”
“If we make a mistake and choose someone other than me, the NDC will lose the elections and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-legacy Addo’s would be shattered.” If you look at the error we made in 2008 by fighting between ourselves and allowing the NDC to win the 2008 elections, President John Agyekum Kufuor’s unfinished projects were put on hold, but this time, I am pleading with NPP members not to make the same mistake,” he stated.
“We need to make sure that we break the eight, and I am the only one who can break the eight for the NPP,” Agyapong said.
Kennedy Agyapong is the ticket if they need a fresh face for the NPP’s new brand…
If NPP members vote for me as the party’s flagbearer, I would easily defeat Mahama. I believe I am capable of defeating Mahama [in any election].”
Defining his goals for Ghana
In defining his vision for the nation, Kennedy Agyapong mentioned that one of the things he would focus on is creating more employment for the young.
He also announced that instead of taking his monthly pay as President, he would spend it to establish a scholarship program to enable talented but underprivileged children to get the education they deserve.
“I will not accept a salary or privileges; any monetary advantage that should be granted to me will be utilized to fund scholarships for youngsters from low-income families.”
“Respectfully, despite the ‘chop money’ that I provide in the home, if I chose to depend on the government pay, I won’t be able to give my wife anymore ‘chop money.’ I’ll utilize the money from my businesses to support myself. If Ghanaians grant me either four or eight years as President, I will not touch any public funds.
“I will create what is known as a Presidential scholarship,” he said, “so that talented but impoverished youngsters may also acquire some degree of education up to the university level.”
“If I am elected President of Ghana, I would utilize tourism to help the country flourish. President Akufo-Addo has done a fantastic job with his 1 District 1 Factory and the Free SHS, according to Kennedy Agyapong.
He congratulated President Akufo-Addo for the enormous improvements he has made in the educational sector, particularly with the launch of his flagship Free Senior High School.
“Look at the incoming grads; they need employment, and I can tell you that gold, cocoa, and all minerals together; if you enhance your tourist spots, it boosts the country’s tourism.” There is no way to compare what the natural resources have to what the tourist industry has to offer, but we have been overlooking tourism for so long that I believe now is the moment.
“This is a dream I have, and with discipline, we will all get up and work hard [to attain it] when Ghanaians give me the chance.” In my government, I will impose discipline. I’ll implement the ‘clock system,’ which will allow every government employee who reports to work to ‘clock’ in the time of reporting and vice versa. Time is money, and in Ghana, we squander a lot of it on things that aren’t required.
“If you give me 100 days, I will alter people’s thinking; we need to establish a positive mentality to grow this nation, and we can do it,” Agyapong said.
Message to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghanaians
“Ghanaians should have faith in me because I have done what I have promised myself to accomplish by the grace of God. Because we need to generate jobs for jobless graduates, I’m going to improve the destiny of our country’s young…
“I’m going to run for flagbearer, and I’m going to win.” I’m pleading with NPP members to ‘Break The Eight’ with Kennedy Agyapong because I walk the walk and care about Ghanaians.
Kennedy Agyapong said, “I am the hope for the hopeless and the voice for the voiceless.”
