Prayers are being said for divine intervention in the management of the coronavirus Covid-19 in Ghana, as the National Day of Prayer which was proposed by the President of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commenced in earnest with the ban on public gatherings in force in the country, many individuals joined fellow Christians via the media, on both traditional and new media to say a prayer for the country, as it contends with curbing the spread of the deadly virus in the country.

So far 53 persons have tested positive for the covid-19 virus with 2 deaths. In a televised address on Saturday, President Akufo-Addo appealed to to seek the face of God.

“Let us pray to God to protect our nation and save us from this pandemic,”

He also urged Ghanaians to comply with measures put in place to stem the spread of the disease and applauded those at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic now affecting more than 292 000 people around the world.

Kencity Media Ltd heeded the president’s call with prayer and worship sessions on both Oman 107.1 FM and NET2 TV respectively, both subsidiaries of the Madina based media house. Joined by some of the nation’s iconic Christian personalities including the Executive Director for the Salt and Light Ministries, Rev Dr. Joyce Aryee , Rev Yawson and the Tagoe sisters, most of the morning was used to offer prayers on behalf of the state, at the expense of usual programming.
